About the SAF Group:

The SAF Group of entities (collectively, “SAF”, “we”, or “our”) was founded in 2014 in Calgary with the ambition of becoming one of Canada’s leading alternative credit asset management firms. We have offices in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto, where we are currently allocating approximately $750 million per annum in Canadian opportunistic credit strategies and direct lending. Since inception, SAF has deployed more than $4 billion and assets under management have averaged more than 35% compounded annual growth in the period. SAF is deploying capital via both closed-ended and open-ended investment vehicles with a broad investor base including pensions, insurance companies, asset managers, endowments and family offices. We are seeking to grow the credit investment team by adding a new senior member to originate and execute opportunities for our expanding capital base. Position Overview:

Reporting to the CEO and part of a senior investment team, we seek an individual who has an established career in Canadian capital markets. A successful candidate is interested in the full life cycle of investing and wants a role with autonomy within a tight group of highly proficient investment professionals. The ideal candidate will have seven to 10+ years of direct experience in relationship management, private markets investment and/or capital markets across sectors within Canada and North America.

Key Responsibilities

Form part of the deals and originations team with executive responsibility for overall investment origination, oversight and eventual exit/realization.
Work with external stakeholders, advisors, boards of directors and/or senior management teams of companies to evaluate operational, financial and strategic value generators of a business.
Proactively manage risk areas of an investment portfolio, including an understanding of financial restructurings, refinancing opportunities and monitoring the overall health of investments within the portfolio.
Verbal and written communication of complex information that is accurate, timely and based on sound judgment.

Qualification & Skills

Experience in investment banking and/or credit investment management.
Established network with senior leaders/executives within the Canadian business community.
Strong origination skills with a proven ability to convert relationships into closed transactions.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and schedules to meet shared team objectives.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to be a team player in a collaborative environment.
Legally eligible to work in Canada and the ability to travel within Canada and internationally.
